A cable from China is usually fine. A flight computer is not.

Print the shell. Flash the firmware. Fly the test inbound over your own ground. This is the only ring with no customs form.
1 · Regional

Espressif ESP32, DJI airframes, nameless F405 boards, Realtek tuners. We catalogue them because they are what you can buy on Monday, and because the inbound is often one of them.

02 · What actually bites

Passive copper is not a flight computer.

A USB cable, a PETG reel, a screw, a weather enclosure: origin is a footnote. A SoC that runs the node, a GNSS module that can lie, an IMU, a camera ISP, radio firmware, a closed DJI C2 link: origin is the story. Those parts can sit quiet for years and then fail, leak, or refuse an order. That is why the ESP32 is the fastest RID ear and also the first supply-chain debt.

Raspberry Pi 5 is the least-bad brain we can buy as citizens: designed in Cambridge, built in Pencoed, Wales, by Sony UK TEC. The board is British. The wider BOM still travels. Prefer it over a random SBC from a marketplace. Do not pretend it is an Infineon microcontroller designed in Munich.
